Happy New Year everyone!
A friend asked me what my resolutions were the other night.
Here they are:
1. get rich (so I can travel more instead of working.)
2. get a man who likes to travel and truly loves me (and not for the $ if I actually succeed in getting rich. I guess if I make him pay for everything then I'll know he doesn't want me for my future money. lol.)
3. Drink more. That's right. MORE! Have more fun. Take more chances. It's time.
4. Get my big bottom moved to Seattle and get working on numbers 1 through 3.
The next item isn't a resolution. It just is.
* I'm working on that sci-fi blog I wanted to get going by New Years and didn't. I'm working on it NOW. :) When it looks like more than an eternal void I'll let you know.

The SF Trip
Let's see... G was nice. I recognized him right away at the airport. We went to a Victorian London themed Christmas fair in San Francisco, the aquarium in Monterey and the Star Trek exhibit in San Jose among other things. We got along quite well but we're not going to "jump" into anything. I liked him and he liked me as far as I could tell. We're talking about how, when and where to see each other again so... I don't know. I don't think it should be this hard. I guess we'll just continue to see what happens as we continue to talk and evaluate things.
I'm still thinking about how best to set up the new sci-fi blog and where best to move. I saw the movie Avatar yesterday. It's beautiful but it does have a lot of long fighting scenes. I would love to see it in IMAX/3d sometime because the aerial scenes were so spectacular. I might watch that last Star Trek movie yet again.
Live Long and Prosper!

San Francisco + a Tease for Next Year!
The SF trip is still on. There has been snow here as well as low low temperatures (by low low I mean 4 degrees F) so I'll be leaving early on Friday morning with someone I know who has a 4x4 that can brave the icy mountain pass. The town the little airport is in actually has a mall so I'm hoping to spend Friday afternoon shopping after I get checked into my hotel. Then I'll follow that up with dinner somewhere and a few blue martinis. G will be working hard where he lives while I'm shopping and then leaving to check into a hotel himself. Saturday we'll finally meet in-person. We've been chatting on and off for about a year but you never really know much until you meet someone. If there isn't too much snow we'll try to go see Yosemite for a few days. I'll be back just before Christmas since he has plans that don't include me.

The Tease for Next Year... I've been thinking more about doing a blended science/sci-fi themed blog. I've acquired a domain I think is kind of cool and galactic - hint! ;) I'm just not sure if I'll use it like a blog or not yet... I need to find out more about the rules for selling services and linking etc as I would like to find a way to get the sci-fi site/blog/whatever making at least some residual money. It might be better for me to acquire my own hosting rather than using blogger depending on what the commercial rules are. I know I can re-direct a blogger blog to a domain but I don't know if that means I'd be allowed to make $ on it or not... and what the best way to do that would be.
Should I say what my new domain is before I leave on Friday, get sloshed on blue martinis and run away to San Francisco? Should I or shall I keep it a total surprise? hmmm...

Catching Up
I know I haven't posted in awhile but I haven't disappeared entirely. I've been out and about in the world. I've been getting pretty lonely on the holidays without my husband and last year I decided that this year I wouldn't stay home sulking about it. There were lots of jet planes involved and a man who stalked me a bit from the Houston to Seattle airports. He said he wanted to keep me company and wouldn't I go outside with him for some air. I told him I don't leave nice - safe - secure airports to go outside with complete strangers. He eventually gave it up.

The Train is Now a Plane
The plans have changed already. Instead of a train, I'll be getting on a plane. I like being up high in the sky so it's a good change. The weather is nice here today. I tried to make spare ribs last night but they turned out kind of dry. I'm thinking about making a blog with more focus... maybe something sci or sci-fi since I am almost always watching or reading something sci or sci-fi. It would be nice to monotonize somehow too if I can find a way to do it without placing irritating ads around. For those of you that have them... do the irritating ads really make you any large amount of money or do they just bring a few dollars occasionally?

I'm going to get on a train.
Today was a big day. I've agreed to get on a train and go meet someone I've been corresponding with in December. No matter how anxious or nervous I get about this as December gets closer, I will be on that train. He's a thoughtful man of science whom I can have a pleasant conversation with about black holes and dark matter. He has impressed me over time with his perseverence, patience, intelligence and honesty. All are traits I highly regard. I don't know what can come of this path I've chosen to take yet. If nothing comes of this I will just continue right on course with my Seattle plan. If something more develops... he and I will have to discuss the details then. In any case I will be on a train in December to finally meet him in-person. Then what will be, will be.

A little bird told me nothing is as constant as change.
Someone told me something that may or may not be true. Since that's happened before with this person I'm finally starting not to care. It's taken awhile but I think maybe I've finally grown an emotional exoskeleton. I might go visit some butterflies in December. I might have to change my blog again because I've discovered gmail. I love gmail. I wish I had known about such a mail before but the past is the past and I must move forward... even regarding e/gmail. I got out of the house yesterday. I ended up not liking it much because of where I was but a little birdie liked me enough to cheer me up. The bird was kind enough to let me take a picture and remind me that nothing is as constant as change.
